About Advanced Ocular Prosthetics

AOP was established on the premise that everyone who needs an artificial eye deserves one that looks natural and is comfortable. The artistry of this field is the foundation of our ability to make the best artificial eyes possible. Our ocularists sculpt and mold and paint with the exactitude required to fabricate the closest replication of nature. This is our mission.

Our Team

Bridget Kinneer

BFA, BCO, BADO

Bridget attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a special focus on painting. After obtaining her art degree, she trained extensively with Darla L. Heckathorn, BCO to learn the fine art of ocularistry and founded AOP in 2005. In 2012 she passed the National Examining Board of Ocularists to become a board certified ocularist (BCO). Bridget is a faculty member in the College of Ocularistry, has been published in the Journal of Ophthalmic Prosthetics and is an active member of the American Society of Ocularists as part of the education committee.

Bridget takes great pride in filling her patients with confidence in their appearance. She enjoys taking her time to get to know them, build a relationship and ensure that they are happy with their prosthesis. She especially enjoys working with children and the most difficult cases.

Emily Barbour

Ocularist

Emily has been making art for as long as she can remember. While attending the Tom Savini’s Special Effects Makeup program at Douglas Education Center, Emily took a course on making eyes and teeth for movie dummies. This opened her eyes to the unique art of making artificial eyes and she decided to pursue this as a career. After graduating from the program Emily started her apprenticeship with Bridget Kinneer, BCO in 2019. She thoroughly enjoys the relationships formed with patients and working her hardest to make sure the patient is happy with both their artificial eye and the experience of having it made.

Lynn Campbell

Office Administrator

Lynn attended West Virginia University earning a bachelor of multidisciplinary studies degree with a concentration in health promotion, sport/exercise psychology, and sport communication. She also studied nursing at the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing. With her broad background in customer service and experience in various areas of the medical field this position is very fitting. She enjoys developing a relationship with the patients and their families and she takes satisfaction in handling all the behind the scenes work to ensure a smoother visit.
